W. M. Rees
The Reverend W M Rees was originally from Aberdare, and was a minister with the Baptists in Pontyberem and Llangyndeyrn, Carmarthenshire. He was a nationalist, a pacifist and a fevrent campaigner. He was influenced by the non-violent ways of opposition used by Gandhi and Martin Luther King, and so was a natural choice to be Secretary of the Llangyndeyrn Protection Committee when a plan to create a large resevoir in the Gwendraeth Valley was opposed – successfully. He died in 1977.
