Zonia Bowen
Zonia Bowen was an author and free-thinker. She was born in Norfolk and brought up in Yorkshire. She studied French in Bangor University and married Geraint Bowen, who went on to become Chief Bard. In 1967 she founded the Merched y Wawr organisation in Bala, where she was living at the time. Whilst establishing the organisation she stated that it should not have links to any religion or politics. She was the author of "Llydaweg i'r Cymro", the first Breton textbook in the Welsh language.
