John Davies
John Davies was born in Llwynypia but moved to Bwlchllan, Ceredigion after the death of his father when he was 11 years old. He was educated in Cambridge and Cardiff. John Davies was one of the most prominent historians of Wales. He started his career at Swansea University before moving to work at Aberystwyth University. He became the first warden of Pantycelyn, the Welsh halls of residence. In 1962 he became first co-secretary of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg. He wrote several volumes including the famous Welsh History, He was a commentator and a regular television presenter. After retiring, John moved to Cardiff. John Davies died in 2015.
