Reviews
In reading this book we are allowed to drink in the stories and wisdom gained from tracing the footsteps of saints past, but further, it challenges us to go out and be pilgrims of the present. It works well on either level. But in combination, reading and doing, it works the very best of all.

A great inspiration to walkers everywhere, who may be inspired to follow these routes as contemporary pilgrims themselves.

As she tells us about these places and special spaces the author proves to be the most amiable of companions, leading us gently thither and hither at a leisurely place, occasionally encouraging us to stand still awhile and take things fully in.
You don't have to be religious to enjoy it, although I imagine for those blessed with faith it would prove to be an even more rewarding read.

This book is not merely a "guide to interesting stuff about Christian history to see in Wales". It has a driving force of its own: a deep love for the country and its people, undergirded by a rigorous approach to historical facts and a lucid and intelligent appraisal of their worth and context. The book is shot through with personal anecdotes, laced with witty asides, and permeated with a desire to share knowledge in an accessible way... recommend 'Where the Saints Came From' to anyone who wishes to view the land west of Offa's Dyke through the faith-filled eyes of a knowledgeable, humorous, and sensitive
guide.
