This is the story of one of Wales' most famous characters. He visited an international space station, had songs written about him by Ray Gravell and the Super Furry Animals and was part of one Wales' greatest marketing campaigns... Yes, the story of Mistar Urdd is quite remarkable. But this is also the autobiography of his creator, and the most prominent man in the field of public relations in Wales, Wynne Melville Jones. The book looks at his background in Tregaron, and the influence the area and the Urdd had on his life until he found his ideal job as the Urdd's Marketing Officer in the early 1970s. Along with Mistar Urdd, he played a critical part in the growth of the organisation after the Investiture of 1969, by developing the Urdd to become one of the largest youth organisations in Europe. Wyn Mel was also successful when he established the first bilingual public relations company in Wales, StrataMatrix, as well as co-founding the magazine Golwg, both of which have made their mark, just like Mistar Urdd himself.
