Glyn is a Welsh teacher, nearing retirement age, and his respectable wife, the "Diva", coaches cerdd dant and reciting groups. On their journey to the National Eisteddfod in Bala, they meet Dan (a man who has withdrawn into his shell) and Dr Heulwen Pears (the Crown adjudicator), and the memories come flooding back. Amusing events ensue as the couples spend the week in the Caravan Park, competing, getting drunk and wandering the Maes. But the characters are hiding behind the mask of normality in order to forget the scars of the past, which remain tender despite every effort to hide them. Both families must face the future, but what kind of future will it be?
