Ron Davies
Ron Davies was born in Aberaeron. His interest in photography developed as a child, while working as an errand boy for a chemist shop in the town. He worked as an official war photographer on the staff of 'Air Information' with the South East Asia command of the Royal Air Force in the Second World War. In 1950 he was in a motorbike accident, which made him wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life. He went on to work for HTV, BBC, the Western Mail and Y Cymro as well as numerous national newspapers. He produced much private work and exhibited widely. He also had a strong interest in teaching photography. In 2002 he joined the Bardic Circle at the National Eisteddfod and in 2003 he was awarded an OBE for his services to Photography. Ron Davies died in 2013.
