The illustrations are gorgeous, with a wonderful muted colour palette and a timeless quality... A beautiful message of hope for both little and big readers – and a timely reminder that happy times will ultimately return after times of hardship. The struggle of homesickness is also something that so many of us can relate to, and yet this story reminds us of how much more difficult the experience of emigration was for our ancestors.
