A picture of Tim Rushton

Tim Rushton

Tim Rushton is an artist and designer working in Manchester. Trained originally as a fine artist, he has worked across a wide range of disciplines. These include typography and illustration and his public art commissions have featured in North West England and West Yorkshire. His design work has appeared in metal and ceramic form and his work is in private collections in the UK. France and the USA.
He taught printmaking for many years in a part-time role and inaugurated the practice of intaglio and relief printing in further education in Manchester. Having now retired from teaching he is concentrating on his artwork that has been augmented in the last few years by the addition to his studio of a 19th century etching press. Although more than150 years old this press performs as well as the day it was made and does all that he asks of it.
He is a keen cyclist and has several times taken the train from Manchester to destinations as far afield as central Wales and Pembrokeshire to cycle back home. Nonconformist chapels still exhibit a strong pull on his imagination and his love of the Welsh landscape is similarly undiminished. Walking Offa's Dyke from south to north with his wife, when the opportunity allows, is proving to be a surprisingly long-term task. Started several years ago, this labour of love is one that he wishes could never end but the inevitable conclusion, when it happens will hopefully lead on to the mid-Wales way and other long distance routes.
