A picture of Steve Eaves

Steve Eaves

Steve Eaves has lived and worked in North West Wales for most of his life. His career started in the late 1960s whilst working as a labourer and musician travelling to play in the folk clubs and underground music venues. He studied Welsh and French at Lampter Univeristy and has worked in the field of Welsh language policy and translation. Both poetry collections were published in the 1980s, before Steve moved towards songwriting and music and as part of a group of self-styled 'unofficial poets' who were challenging the poetic establishment in Welsh-speaking Wales. The Blues is his greatest influence. In 2011 Steve was presented with a lifetime contribution award by Radio Cymru.
