Joke book published to raise funds for NHS

Two Welsh comedians have collaborated to publish a new collection of jokes to raise money for the NHS. Gags for the NHS by Phil Evans and Dilwyn Phillips will be published by Y Lolfa this week.

Phil Evans is known for his unique warm, friendly and engaging humour and he has performed to audiences as far afield as Oslo, Canada and America. Dilwyn Phillips is an author of several popular joke collections. As well as gags and puns this collection contains several funny stories with a medical twist.

Ammanford based stand up Phil Evans said,

“During the pandemic, our dedicated, hard-working front-line workers in all professions have proved that a healthy sense of humour is vital to help the cope with the enormous pressure they’re under. We truly appreciate the chance to write this book and give something back to them.”

He added,

“We hope that as well as contributing to the coffers of the NHS buying this book will provide some much-needed escapism and will bring smiles to people’s faces.”

Dilwyn Phillips was brought up in Pontarddulais but now lives in Alicante, Spain. He said, “Having been an inpatient on several occasions since moving to Spain I realised how tough it can be working in the hospitals especially with the current pandemic and how much public support is needed to boost morale.”

All proceeds will be donated to NHS charities.
