An excellent book, and one which fills a significant gap in the scholarship.
- Elizabeth A. New, Ceredigion
This is a truly magnificent book, all the more so because it is the first synoptic view of an artistic medium which has never been taken seriously within Wales. A glorious work, unequivocally recommended.
- Ancient Monuments Society Newsletter, Autumn 2014
This is the best survey of stained glass published anywhere in Britain, and will be used as much outside Wales as within.
- Julian Orbach, Archaeologia Cambrensis
This is an admirable survey, illustrated throughout in full colour, which will arouse a great deal of interest and delight those who read it. Much, much more than a coffee-table book, it is a great credit to author and publisher alike.
- Rhidian Griffiths, Gwales
This delightful book is an amazingly comprehensive catalog of stained glass in Welsh Churches... The photography in this book and y Lolfa's incredible printing technique are both worthy of highest praise. Every Welsh person needs to be aware of this wonderful publishing house... Mr Crampin's wonderful ability as a photographer makes this one of the most beautiful coffee table books imaginable. I recommend it without reservation to anyone interested in the art and history of Wales.
- Berwyn E. Jones, Ninnau (the North American Welsh newspaper)
A magnificent and seminal book, very generously illustrated with colour photographs taken by the author, who also designed the book. What an achievement! Apart from being a magnificent publication, this book will, by making knowledge readily available, undeniably help to conserve and maintain this glass for the future. It is very very welcome.
- Judith Leigh, Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings magazine
This is an absolutely joy of a book, perfect for anyone who enjoys looking at churches in general or more specifically at stained glass windows in particular... At only £29.95, this is an absolute steal of a book and well worth every single penny.
- The Garden Window blog
The first thing to note is that Martin Crampin is to be congratulated on bringing out his first book, which the author himself designed and for which he provided much of the photography. This is no mean feat in itself. Secondly, regional surveys of stained glass of all periods in the British Isles are so rare that any contribution to the literature should be welcomed, and one so ably informed and such a visual treat more so... As an accessible general survey of a nation's heritage in stained glass, this volume can hardly be bettered, and it is moreover a handsome feast for the eye. Let us hope that it will spur others to investigate the subject more seriously, and not just in Wales.
