J. Gwyn Griffiths
J. Gwyn Griffiths was born in Porth, Rhondda Valley. He studied Latrin and then Greek at Cardiff University and later a teaching diploma. He obtained an M.A. in the ancient history of Egypt from Liverpool University and a D.Phil from Oxford University. At Oxford, he met his wife, Kate Bosse, who shared the same academic interests as him and who was also a scholar in ancient Egypt. He was part of establishing the Cadwgan Circle, a writing and intellectual group for like-minded thinkers in Wales. He wrote many books, several collections of his poems. J. Gwyn Griffiths died in 2004.
