Delme Thomas
Delme Thomas was born in Bancyfelin, near Carmarthen. Delme Thomas played union rugby and became one of Wales' most famous rugby players during the 1960s and 1970s. He joined Llanelli RFC in 1961 and was captain when the team won the league, and also when Llanelli won against the All Blacks in 1972. He won 22 caps for his country. He toured with the British and Irish Lions three times. In the 2000 National Eisteddfod, held in Llanelli, he was honoured by being made a member of the bardic Gorsedd for his contribution to Welsh sport and the Welsh language.
