Orig Williams
Orig Williams was a Welsh professional wrestler and wrestling promoter. Known during his career under the name 'El Bandito'. Born in Ysbyty Ifan, Williams spent his National Service with the RAF before a short career as a professional football player, and then player-manager of Dyffryn Nantlle. He began his wrestling career in fairgrounds before joining the independent wrestling circuit. He travelled to India and whilst there fought the Bholu Brothers. In later life, Williams became a sports journalist for the Daily Post. He was also made a member of the Gorsedd of the Bards at the National Eisteddfod in 2000 for his continuous promotion of the Welsh language. Orig Williams died in 2009.
