Angharad Tomos

Angharad Tomos is a relentless campaigner for the Welsh language. She left the University of Wales, Aberystwyth before completing her studies to go and work for Cymdeithas yr Iaith. She gained a degree in the University of Wales, Bangor at a later date. Angharad Tomos is a prominent author and has written and illustrated many children’s books including her series Rwldan, first published in 1983. The series was successfully adapted for television and theatr by Tomos and translated into Irish and Breton. She has won the crown in the Urdd Eisteddfod, Acamdei Gymreig Prize, the Prose Medal at the National Eisteddfod and the Tir na n-Og Award. In 2009 she won the Mary Vaughan Jones Prize for her contribution to children’s literature in Wales
