Pennar Davies
Pennar Davies was the son of a coal miner, was educated at the University College of Wales, Cardiff, Balliol and Mansfield Colleges, Oxford and Yale University. He was a highly regarded Welsh Congregational minister and academic. Well known in the literary and religious life of Wales for half a century as a prophetic preacher, historian, novelist, short story writer, poet and literary critic. He campaigned throughout his life for the Welsh language. Pennar Davies died in 1996.
