Jonathan Hicks
Dr Jonathan Phillip Hicks was born in Barry, South Wales. He now lives there with his family. At University he studied English and History and began his career as an English teacher. He is now the Headteacher at St Cyres Comprehensive School in Penarth. "I have always loved telling stories and entertaining people. Some of my favourite authors are crime writers and after spending several years researching into the Great War I was able to write a novel that I hope you will enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing."Jonathan is well known for his interest in military history. His work has been published in the magazines 'Soldiers of the Queen', 'Stand To', 'The Great War Magazine' and 'Britain at War'. He also writes regularly for the local press and twice a month gives lectures on military history throughout South Wales.He is extremely proud that Barry's roll of honour now includes 73 extra names which is as a result of his meticulous research. The town has also enjoyed three major military exhibitions organised by him.He has won theWestern Front Association Shield (South Wales Branch) for his research for his book 'Barry and the Great War'. Jonathan has also won the Victorian Military Society's top award for an excerpt from his book 'A Solemn Mockery' which examines the myths of the Anglo Zulu War.
