Ivor Owen
Owen was born in Cefnddwysarn, a small village near Bala in Wales in 1915. He trained at Bangor to be a teacher specialising in art and science and was headmaster of schools in Croesor, Gwyddelwern and finally Ysgol O.M. Edwards in Llanuwchllyn. Owen began illustrating and, in 1949, he and DJ Williams, published Hwyl (Fun), the first children's comic in the Welsh language. He also wrote several books for Welsh Learners, winning prizes at various National Eisteddfods in the 1960-70's. Owen died in Dolgellau in 2007.
