Gareth Alban Davies
Originally from the Rhondda Valley, Gareth was educated in Porth Grammar School and Queen's College, Oxford, where he graduated with honours in Spanish and French. He spent his career in the Spanish department of Leeds University, specializing in 17th century literature. It was his interests in visual arts and the inter-relationship between literature and art that first led him to Owen Jones. He has published several volumes of poetry, as well as articles on history and literature criticism; he's also published a volume in the Academy series on Spanish poems from the Middle Ages to the present. He died in 2009.
