Merched y Wawr
Meleri Wyn James (gol.) Other books by Meleri Wyn James
This is the story of one of Wales' main Welsh-language organisations, with 280 branches and 7,000 members. Over the decades Merched y Wawr has provided women with opportunites to socialise, practice their skills, raise money and be proud of their Welshness.
As a series of articles, written by members, and colour photographs, the book tells the story of the movement from the beginning in 1967 to today. It shows that there is more to this movement than a cup of tea and a Welsh cake, as Merched y Wawr lead the way as campaigners and fund-raisers in fields such as the Welsh language, nursery schools, Welsh learners, S4C and projects that help disadvantaged people and for the benefit of women in rural Wales and the Third World.
