£5.95 MarketingY Lolfa will be responsible for the basic book registration tasks, and will:• assign an ISBN number to the book so that it can be identified worldwide as an unique Lolfa publication; • give full information about the book to Whittaker Bibliographic Services. This means the book will be listed in the Bookseller, registered at the British Library, and included in the CD-Roms sent to booksellers in the British Isles; • post copies to the British Library, the National Library of Wales and other copyright libraries. However, without further marketing, the book will not sell more than a handful of copies. Marketing is all-important, and a strategy for the book will be discussed with the author in a Marketing Meeting to be held not later than one month before publication. A core of marketing work will be undertaken for all Dinas titles: • 30 review copies will be sent to suitable papers and journals. The author may suggest names for inclusion in the list; • a press release publicizing the book in "story" form will be written and distributed to the media electronically and as hard copy, with a picture if suitable; • Advance Information Sheets (full-colour A4 sheets with essential information about the book) will be sent to all our distributors as well as our own representatives. This will have been done some months before publication day; • full information about the book will be put on our website www.ylolfa.com together with biographical information about the author in the authors section on the website; • press advertisements for the book will be placed as deemed by the publishers to be most effective for sales, and Dinas titles will be included in the general advertisements that Y Lolfa place in key Welsh magazines and papers. A specific sum for advertising cannot, however, be guaranteed; • There will be a Dinas leaflet that Y Lolfa will publish and continually update and distribute with Lolfa mailing. The purpose of the Marketing Meeting will be to look at further possibilities, such as a book launch and/or signing in a bookshop, appearances on radio or television and ways of getting attention in local and national newspapers and magazines. Success will depend a lot on the author's enthusiasm and personal contacts. An author CV with full biographical details will be needed. Once the initial marketing has been done, we will make our best to sell the book in Wales and beyond, responding promplty to all orders whether by phone, fax, e-mail, web orders, ordinary mail - or personal callers at our shop. However, we cannot guarantee any particular level of sales. Y Lolfa, Talybont, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Cymru/Wales SY24 5HE +44(0) 1970 832 304 |
