Gerrie Clancy

Gertrude Clancy, better known as Gerrie, was born in New York City, where she lived until she moved with her husband, Professor Joseph Clancy, to Aberystwyth in 1990. Gerrie wrote and directed plays for college and community theatre, and founded a community theatre in the Bronx in 1975. In 1988 she earned her BA in English Literature at Marymount Manhattan College. At various times Gerrie was a children's librarian in New York. After settling in Wales she regularly reviewed Welsh children's books in English for the Welsh-American newspaper Ninnau and the Welsh Books Council. Gerrie died in 2013.
