Penny Simpson story represents Wales in US European fiction anthology
Penny Simpson, author of the forthcoming Croatian-set novel The Deer Wedding Full Details and The Banquet of Esther Rosenbaum Full Details has had her story "Indigo's Mermaid" accepted for publication in an anthology of European fiction to be published by the Dalkey Archive of the University of Illinois, and edited by Aleksandar Hemon. She is the only author from Wales to be included! Penny is a Hawthornden Fellow who recently spent six weeks working on her third novel at the Internation Retreat for Writers at Hawthornden Castle near Edinburgh. This prestigious fellowship each year offers only five authors, including translators, the opportunity to work on their writing in an email-free and mutually supportive atmosphere.
